We are seeking a Senior Associate to support our Design Services work. The chosen candidate will team members to support the design and implementation of a wide variety of policies, programs and services designed to increase the social and economic well-being of Canadians.
You’ll have the opportunity to support the on-going evaluation of Future Skills Centre pilot projects, and other projects relating to workforce development, skills training, affordable housing, crime prevention, youth success, and other public policy areas affecting the social and economic well-being of Canadians.
Develop design research plans and data analysis strategies
Conduct and lead field-work with users
Create meaningful and value-add insights from field work that can lead to actionable tactics and next steps for clients
Work with clients, partners, and end-of-line users to co-design and implement design thinking activities, including in-depth field work, continuous learning agendas, co-design activities, prototypes, and Minimum Viable Products
Prepare briefs, memos, and training materials to support effective communication with clients
Support development of reports, artefacts, and presentations for a range of technical and non-technical audiences to share findings and deliverables
Assist with project coordination activities including developing project work plans and monitoring completion of tasks
Master’s degree in a design related field (Design Research, Visual Design, Industrial Design Design-Thinking, etc.) strong preference for additional academic qualifications in public administration, sociology, psychology, economics, political science, or related field
Experience conducting design research/strategy in the public policy realm
Expertise in qualitative research methods with a focus on Design Research methods
Experience designing data collection instruments including surveys, cultural probes, mock-ups and walkthroughs, co-design workshops, and/or in-depth interview protocols
Technical skills in video editing, visual design, artefact production, wireframes and other visual assets
Outstanding organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail
Ability to set priorities and organize work flow under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work collaboratively with members of a team to accomplish project tasks and meet deadlines
Strong motivation and commitment to research excellence, generating new ideas, exchanging and mobilizing knowledge, and continuous improvement
Ability to make appropriate decisions in the face of complexity or uncertainty, identify and manage risks, and act to address issues when necessary
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite. Preference for proficiency in UI Applications such as Sketch, Figma, etc.
