Blueprint is a non-profit research organization dedicated to improving the social and economic well-being of Canadians by helping solve complex public policy challenges.
We are seeking an intermediate level project management professional to collaborate with our Client Leads in delivering high quality research and analysis projects at a dynamic Canadian social policy research organization. The role represents an excellent opportunity for a project management professional with an interest in policy and research, seeking to advance their career.
The Project Manager will partner with Client Leads to jointly lead and ensure the successful delivery of projects. The PM will focus on the structural elements of project planning and monitoring progress to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Client Leads, by contrast, will focus on the technical aspects of the work – establishing the overall scope and approach of the engagement, supporting team members in executing their work, working with clients to ensure their needs are understood and met, and delivering quality work products that exceed client expectations.
As a growing organization, our project management practice continues to evolve in response to our organizational needs. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to not only work on interesting and high profile projects, but also help shape our project management practices and contribute to our organizational project management framework.
More specific responsibilities of the position include:
Working with Client Leads to develop and maintain project work plans
Working with Directors, Client Leads, and other Project Managers to establish project resource needs and coordinate resources across projects
Ensuring that all team members have the required information and resources to carry out their tasks effectively
Analyzing project performance, identifying risks and issues, collaborating on solutions and escalating as appropriate
Monitoring progress and providing regular project progress reports and status updates
Managing client communication, including organizing and participating in client meetings
Working with other project managers and the Director of Operations to collaborate on lessons learned and drive organizational standards and processes
University degree, preferably in social sciences or public policy. Your education background should support understanding challenges in policy research which the firm solves on behalf of clients
PMP, or CAPM designations highly preferred
Detail orientation and organization is critical – consultants, clients, and the partners of the firm will depend on your ability to be on top of the details.
Strong process and leadership skills in implementing business systems
A collaborative approach and strong communications skills, especially when working with teams executing complex work in the face of tight deadlines
Fast learner with a growth mindset, with curiosity to learn about both processes and the details of projects
Strategic thinker, with a leadership orientation
2 – 4 years of experience in project management, ideally in a professional services environment managing a wide variety of projects from small to large size in scope.
Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint); experience with Mavenlink an asset
Application deadline: September 9, 2019
Salary: Blueprint offers competitive salaries that are commensurate with candidates’ qualifications, as well as an employee benefits package.
