Enhancing and expanding literacy and essential skills programming for Ontarians

Blueprint is leading a collaborative initiative to develop recommendations for improving Ontario’s Literacy and Basic Skills program to better meet the needs of Ontario learners.

The Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) program is a key program in Ontario’s adult education system, and is central to the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development’s (MAESD) commitment to provide opportunities for Ontarians to build critical foundational skills and participate in a knowledge-based economy.

Findings from a recent evaluation of Ontario’s LBS program and from stakeholder symposiums point to the need to enhance and expand the program to better meet the needs of Ontario learners. In recognition of this need, MAESD has engaged Blueprint to lead a collaborative initiative to develop recommendations and an action plan for improving Ontario’s Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) program.

Blueprint is leading a highly collaborative process that involves providing facilitation, consulting, project management, administration support, and subject matter expertise to the project steering committee, working tables and reference groups, which include a wide range of partners from post-secondary institutions, literacy organizations, school boards, and government.
